Le mesurier is a multi-disciplined artist who has lived and worked in Bristol for over 10 years; exhibiting, organising events, and making art.
Primarily a painter who creates complex scenes that develop worlds and a world view. He uses light colour, abstraction, and texture to draw the viewer in and to pose questions that linger in the mind.
‘Finding a deeper meaning and communicating with clarity is difficult in a confusing world’.
‘I mainly work with acrylic paint but have used other mediums and materials in 3 dimensions to make work. An element of realism is important, yet it has to have something extra. Some abstraction, dramatic lighting, vibrant colour or mesmerising pattern to inspire an emotional and intellectual engagement. In this sense I follow a surrealist tradition.’
‘The alchemical process of absorbing all that is interesting in this life and expressing it never gets boring.’
